A bachelor of social work (BSW) program coordinator is responsible for coordinating programs, working with various staff at institutions where programs are offered, and keeping liaisons with faculty members and other important individuals. This is all done for the sake of coordinating programs to train students in a wide range of areas, so good communication and organizational skills are essential for this position.
Those in this position coordinate between students and programs, and their responsibilities revolve around advising students regarding proper course loads for each semester and helping them prepare for the job market and its derivatives. For this purpose, these coordinators must maintain public relations with institutions which offer volunteer work, internships, and paid internships for students. This extracurricular work is a must for students to adjust to real workplaces, and it is the job of the BSW program coordinator to ensure that every student gets a chance to fulfill these requirements.
This position generally requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in education or a related field, as well as a great amount of dedication. A fixed schedule and paid vacation can be expected.
