Branch sales managers oversee a certain branch, or location, of a company. They are in charge of the everyday business within their branch, and they work to manage client relationships by providing excellent customer service. Branch managers oversee the entire management team, with whom they work to reach daily sales and/or conversion goals, and report back to the corporate level.
Branch sales managers are in charge of all employees within their branch. As such, they are usually involved in the hiring, training and mentoring of branch employees. They also set expectations for their employees and see that the goals are accomplished. They also are responsible for maintaining merchandising standards as well as their store's upkeep. Branch managers must also understand, implement and enforce all policies regarding safety, client relations and more.
Branch managers must have a strong sense of leadership as well as have excellent written and verbal communication. They will often conduct meetings and delegate tasks to members of their staff. They need to have good problem solving skills and be able to be diplomatic when problems arise. It is also important to have a strong knowledge of computer software such as Microsoft and email systems. Branch managers are not always required to have a college degree, though many companies seek applicants who possess at least an associates or bachelors degree. Their work hours will vary depending on the nature of their business: they may be required to work nights, weekends and holidays. Some branch managers will also be required to travel to other branches or other areas.
