Business account executives must present periodic sales and activity reports to management to demonstrate their success, and advanced computer skills are important to create effective, eye-catching presentations and reports. In some cases, these executives will already have leads which simply need to be followed; in other cases, it is essential to conduct research in order to find, and reach out to, new customers.
Those in this position should have strong public speaking skills in order to carry out presentations regarding company offerings and how they benefit consumers. After purchased products are distributed, it is also important to follow-up to make sure clients are satisfied. Business account executives must have advanced knowledge of company offerings so any and all questions or concerns posed by consumers can be answered. Though it is important to meet sales goals, it is equally important to ensure that all procedures are in line with company policies and any laws and regulations which may apply. A bachelor’s degree in a business- or marketing-related field is often required for this position, and prior sales experience is highly beneficial.
