Business development interns will coordinate across several departments to look for any new opportunities. They are also tasked with the lower-level work that must be done to succeed with a marketing campaign. Though they may seem menial, these jobs are necessary and add a lot of value to the final product. The business development intern is in a special position in the organization. This job allows them to influence the type of marketing campaign that the company releases and the types of customers that the company is trying to attract. Needless to say, this position comes with a great deal of responsibility.
Most business development internships require an MBA/CFA/ACCMA. If the intern is a student, he or she must also be trying to attain a degree in a field related to business development. Knowledge of marketing and public relations would be invaluable to a person seeking this position. A business development intern should have initiative, ambition, and creativity. Research is a big part of this job, so business development interns should be patient and thorough and have the ability to retain and analyze lots of information. Organizational and time-management skills are necessary, and a proficiency with Microsoft Office is recommended.
