Job Description for Cable Television Installer

A cable television installer sets up telecommunication wires in homes, offices, and other settings in which cable television is requested. In order to gain access to cable television (and, in some cases, Internet and telephone service) individuals first need to have the proper equipment set up; this requires installation by a knowledgeable, qualified individual. The cable television installer runs a fiber optic cable from the main cable source to the installation site. After the wires are secured in place, the installer then hooks the wires into a cable monitor box that allows for access to the channels for which the subscriber paid. Depending on how many boxes subscribers want installed, installers may need to run additional wires into other rooms and repeat the installation process.
