The campus director is responsible for most non-academic goals and events on campus. They are in charge of hiring non-academic personnel on campus, as well as overseeing activities planning and budgeting, preservation of the campus, and recruitment and retention. Some other duties performed by campus directors may include coordinating security, maintaining cleanliness of buildings and campus, and utilizing resources efficiently. The campus director is in charge of all non-academic meetings, and they must ensure that all issues under their purview are handled as efficiently and effectively as possible.
The campus director generally must possess a master's degree from an accredited college, as well as at least 10 years of relevant experience, especially pertaining to the management of a campus. These professionals must possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills as well. They should be able to work well independently, as well as in a group setting with other professionals. It could be expected that a campus director work during regular business hours, but they should also be prepared to work at night during student activities. The campus director generally spends most of his or her day in an office environment, but they should also be prepared to travel to many locations on campus to ensure all organizational goals are met.
