Cardiac cath lab managers coordinate and monitor material resources used in the lab, assist physicians and nursing staff in patient care, direct and supervise employees, coordinate the services provided to patients, and design and implement procedures to facilitate the hiring and training of employees.
Aspiring cardiac cath lab managers should complete an accredited registered nurse (RN) vocational program with a bachelor’s degree in nursing or another health field and gain several years of experience as an RN or in a similar position. They should also have substantial knowledge and skills in clinical administration and practice, and some prior supervisory experience may be required by some employers.
These managers should be able to lead team members, resolve interpersonal conflicts, establish rapport with patients and their families, and succeed in a fast-paced work environment.
