A cardiology technologist usually works in a hospital or clinic. The technologist will monitor a patient and supply updates to a physician. The technologist may perform tests, such as drawing blood. He or she may also perform ECG tests, which involve placing electrodes on the patient’s chest and then monitoring the signs produced. The technologist may prepare a patient for a physical stress test, or he or she may actually carry out the test, often under a physician’s supervision. The technician should be able to perform regular maintenance and troubleshooting on the machines and should be able to recognize when the machines are malfunctioning.
