Case aides are responsible for facilitating case-related activities on behalf of their organization. They provide administrative support to clients and their families, as well as help prepare and process case services forms, applications and other paperwork as needed. The case aide's main responsibilities include developing strong relationships with clients, acting as a liaison for their agency and clients, and preparing case files and any other needed reports. Case aides use a personal computers to store files, complete administrative tasks, communicate with colleagues and outside agencies, and check progress and reports about cases.
Additionally, case aides refer clients to specialists and other providers as needed, as well as assist with case management administration. Case aides provide clerical support and must follow all guidelines related to clients' safety and privacy. They also need to know how families can obtain community resources, conduct recordkeeping in an efficient, effective manner and report their progress to an assigned case worker or other supervisor.
A bachelor's degree in social work, counseling or a related field is typically the minimum educational requirement for this job. Previous experience as a case aide is often required or preferred as well. Case aides must be proficient with basic computer software such as the Microsoft Office suite, work effectively with other care professionals and work well on their own with minimal supervision.
