Cash posting clerks work as administrative support for accounting departments in businesses. Their duties include taking payments for accounts, posting payments, processing refunds or account adjustments, and make notes on accounts. Many times, a cash posting clerk is expected to handle other clerical work such as opening and processing mail, managing incoming and outgoing faxes, and taking phone calls related to accounts. If a payment is lost or misapplied, a cash posting clerk will be required to conduct research, locate the payment, reapply payment, and work with customers to keep them informed of the situation.
