My advice to anyone who feels they have been fired for whistle blowing is to simply resign. There are laws to protect "us" through the eeoc, however, it boils down to their word against yours. This, any way you cover yourself, will still leave you unemployed from firing and still looking for another job.

If you were to secretly obtain another job, then you could resign, then perhaps later decide to whistle blow.
