These directors maintain communication channels for partners, vendors, and clients, and develop new business relationships to increase brand recognition and product loyalty. They must demonstrate excellent leadership skills by motivating marketing teams to provide quality customer service and promoting marketing campaigns in a variety of ways. They also help coordinate marketing training and find new opportunities to promote products and services.
Channel marketing directors must identify regional areas in which to expand, research new markets, and implement effective marketing in new channels. They use a personal computer to communicate with teams, clients, and partners around the globe, and they are also responsible for developing strategies to maximize output and reduce use of company resources. They also oversee logistics for distribution and must be organized and pay close attention to detail. They typically work in an office environment and share information with other managers in the company, as well as make recommendations to increase company revenue, run calculations, and create budgets and timelines based on projects. They usually report their progress to a marketing vice president in the organization. A bachelor's degree in marketing, logistics, business administration, or a related field is generally required for this position, and relevant prior experience is highly beneficial. Marketing and leadership certifications are also helpful.
