Job Description for Chemical Technician

A chemical technician works at a facility such as a plant that processes or deals with chemicals. Some examples of places that employ chemical technicians are water purification plants and waste treatment centers. The chemical technician may deal with chemicals that keep the facility’s equipment working correctly or that are used to treat the product the facility deals with. The technician should make sure that chemicals are treated and disposed of in line with laws and company policy. The technician will work with the compliance department to make sure all work is done according to health, environmental, and safety regulations.

  • Conduct quality control and safety surveys, and log results across time for different sites.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain equipment to create, disseminate, use, or apply chemicals.
  • Apply, evaluate, and improve chemical processes and chemicals.
