Job Description for Chief Mammography Technologist

The chief mammography technologist is a position that is usually sought after by hospitals or other research institutes that are affiliated with healthcare. Most employers are looking for prospective applicants who have at least graduated from high school, although some employers may be looking for bachelor's degrees. However, all employers will be looking for applicants that have completed a radiography program, such as one from an accredited school. Some experience would be helpful, as a few hospitals do look for applicants that have worked within the healthcare system. The chief mammography technologist will also need to have current licensing in the state that they will be working in. They will also need to be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in some cases.

  • Monitor observance to policies and standards from ACR, FDA, MQSA, and state regulations.
  • Supervise and organize technical work for mammography, stereotactic and breast ultrasound services.
  • Plan and evaluate the use of staff, resources for departmental programs and services.
  • Observe and monitor the quality of images, prepare reports based on activities.
