A chief strategy officer advises their company's chief executive officer (CEO) on strategic initiatives. Specifically, they help communicate, develop, execute and sustain these initiatives in collaboration with the CEO and other executive-level leaders of the company. This consultative position is a broadly defined position compared to other "C-level" executive position, but generally chief strategy officers' duties fall into three categories: strategy development, resource allocation and strategy execution. Most chief strategy officers have at least a bachelor's degree related to business, sales, economics, or marketing. Many have advanced degrees in marketing or business, as well as substantial experience in leadership roles in companies. Chief strategy officers work in an office setting and interact with company executives, business unit heads, the marketing team, and other employees.
