Q: What do you wish you knew about your job when you first started out?
Construction Superintendent, Residential in Fort Myers:
"Learn as much as possible."
I would try to absorb as much info as possible about products, trades, and business practices.
Construction Superintendent, Residential in Portland:
"Know what you are getting into."
This is a high pressure job.Deadlines are based on corporate decisions not yours. You must know building codes, trade and industry standards, and be extremely organized in order to survive. Burnout occurs frequently in this position.Benefits are good but pay vs hours worked is lacking in my company.Bonuses need to be higher to match level of skill and experience.
