Controls Engineer Advice

Q: What do you wish you knew about your job when you first started out?

Controls Engineer in Minneapolis:
"Satisfying and stressful."
If you are willing to put in the hours, producing physical machines that DO something is very rewarding. But, it is a business and there is always a schedule and a budget.

Controls Engineer in Detroit:
"Getting the first job sucks."
Getting into the entry level work for a job sucks. It took me 7 months to find my first job. Since then, it took me about a month of searching on two separate times to find a job. Internships are usually a good place to start for the first year (one where you get paid). However, while I started as an intern, I didn't get a lot of value as an intern since I ended up taking over the bulk amount of work on my own from the start.
