Q: What do you wish you knew about your job when you first started out?
Cost Accountant in Lexington:
"Underpaid and underutilized."
My employer seems to not understand the role of a professional accountant. Duties assigned are that of a bookkeeper or accounting associate, not those of a degreed accountant or better. Professional advice is not taken seriously. The COO really needs to learn how to better delegate and let his managers do their jobs as they are specifically trained to do the work. He is overly involved in work he is not qualified to perform. Make sure you work for a professional company who understands what accountants really do for a living.
