Median of all compensation (including tips, bonus, and overtime) by years of experience.
Those in the early stages of their career can expect to make around $74K; however, individuals with five to 10 years of experience bring in $77K on average — a distinctly larger sum. The average pay reported by folks with 10 to 20 years of experience is around $80K. Survey participants with more than twenty years of experience only make around $76K on average, though; this group reports a lower median than the one claimed by mid-career individuals. Between one and nine years is the typical spectrum of experience for those in this line of work — of those who took the survey, half land within it. Experienced employees who have 10-20 years of experience make up around an eighth of the workforce; inexperienced individuals who have been working for less than one year comprise roughly a seventh, and senior people with more than 20 years under their belt fill out the remaining somewhere between a fifth and a fourth.
