Job Description for Department Head, Film/Video Post-Production

A department head of film/video post-production is responsible for managing video/sound editors and graphic/special effects artists who are involved in post-production work. Video production companies that produce content for television or commercials typically have dedicated post-production departments, and the department heads must oversee their work and progress. They may also interview and hire production assistants, editors, and artists and set progress goals to be met. As department heads, they are responsible for meeting budgets for individual production contracts as well as adhering to company budgets for purchasing and repairing equipment.
