A direct care program coordinator manages health treatment programs for patients who require direct daily care or living assistance. Direct care program coordinators work with hospitals, hospices, nursing homes, and inpatient psychiatric facilities to develop and run a care program for patients in need. Most employers require direct care program coordinators to obtain and maintain a valid nursing license in compliance with state laws. They also usually require applicants to have a bachelor's degree in nursing or another relevant field Some require a master's degree in social work and a license as a clinical social worker.
