Dog Groomer Reviews

What is it like working as a Dog Groomer at Petco Animal Supplies, Inc.?

Dog Groomer in Worcester:
"Reliable job, crappy company."
Pros: Benefits are alright. Good paid time off for vacations and sick or personal days. Love working with animals! Fairly flexible with scheduling (in the grooming salon).
Cons: The company seems to not give much care to employees regarding their concerns, input on growing business. In the grooming salon. Things go months without getting fixed or serviced. Severe lack of communication as to what is expected. No clear directions, ever. Expected to do more work then what is possible in a single shift. There are no incentives to do better.

What do you wish you knew about your job when you first started out?

Dog Groomer in Morgan Hill:
"Should Have Told Us They Were Planning On Closing The Grooming Shop."
Sign a contract that will insure no pay cuts including commission and be sure the receptionist booking appointments are professional and can handle high your high maintenance clients. Be sure the hours are convenient for customer drop off and pick up. Ask what customers would like to be done, don't assume. Call when in doubt. Be honest if you make a mistake and notify owners of any injures due to clippers. Keep track of the cut info and health conditions and skin problems. You see them more than the vets do. Treat them as your own and spend a few minutes with owners at pick up time, on how they did.
