Job Description for Education Administrator, Preschool or Child Care Center Program
The primary responsibility of program education administrators in pre-school and child care is to provide educational assistance to both teachers and teachers' assistants. This may include allocating money for supplies to educate students and ensuring that they are progressing and learning efficiently. Those in this position are also in charge of directing and guiding teachers, ensuring that facilities are maintained properly, resolving any issues which may arise, and directing the care that is provided to children.Read More...
Some in this position are required to provide attendance/performance reviews of students for local government offices and the parents/guardians of the children who attend their programs. Because these administrators work with children, most states require them to have state and local clearances, as well as First Aid Certification. Candidates for the position should work well with children and in stressful work environments and have good listening and communication skills, as well as the ability to understand problems and find viable solutions. They are also expected to be both independent and highly dependable.
Those in this position must have sufficient computer skills and a strong understanding of Microsoft Office, accounting software, and program-planning software (i.e. ACS Technologies HeadMaster). An associate's or bachelor's degree is generally required for this position, and prior working experience in pre-schools or child care centers may also be required.
