Electronic repairers have a wide range of tasks, including: disassembling machinery and equipment when problems arise, performing tests and running initial batches to ensure that machines are running properly, adjusting and calibrating equipment to reach certain specifications, detecting major and minor problems via diagnostic tests, lubricating and cleaning machinery, checking the overall performance of machinery and equipment, resetting and calibrating controls, installing and repairing machinery and equipment, adjusting and aligning machine parts, replacing defective parts, and moving machinery when necessary.
Electronic repairers work primarily with with other repairers in small teams or independently. They may work both inside and outside depending on the type of machinery and can generally expect long hours of work. A bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field is often a minimum requirement for this position, and some employers also require multiple certifications.
