Job: Electronics Technician (United States)

Keep this in the back of your mind knowing that there are more engineers than there are technicians in this field and employer will find it difficult to hire experienced technicians.

It is a good thing to know ones strengths, likes, skills and such. We have all always wanted to do a special function in life. Perhaps we went as far as aligning these dreams and channeled them into skills related to your dream job. You will be outstanding if this describes you. Some people, discover their skill later in life. It can be very difficult to realize you want something and not have the tools to get there.

At this point, one must become focused! You have to spell out exactly what you are, what you want, and how you are going to get there. This is difficult sometimes. Remember, when we do what we hav always done, we will get what we have always received. If we change what we do, we will receive something new, or different.

Immerse yourself into whatever technology your employer has you working on. become the subject matter expert on the systems you work on as quickly as possible. engineers are usually the people who an electronics technician reports to, they do not like having to spoon feed a new person. take initiative, be interested, and try to become a usefull part of the team as quickly as possible.

Move away from Gadsden if you want a decent job.

Keep eye out for the Electronic Technician exam given by the Postal Office.

If you're the only person who can do what you do, you are irreplaceable. It makes it a little harder to get promoted but no worries of being replaced.
