Pride
Every job you do for your employer is a reflection of you, no matter how small or menial the job may seem. Never give a bad reflection. Take pride in what you do and never give less than 100%. The work you do is also a reflection of the Company you work for. You may not like your employer but THEY PAY YOU. The better a company looks the more money they make, in turn, you have more to bargain with for better pay. They have the funds and you have helped them achieve that.
I currently assist one CEO, 2 VPs, 2 Directors, 3 Managers and 300 employees
I believe that I should be compensated for the workload that I carry out each day.
Not being paid fair
I have been with this company for 16 years and three times I didn't get the promotion that was promised to me 10 years ago. Also, more work was added to my responsibilities and no substantial increase only $0.50/hr.
Health Issues Not Employers Concern
I am most definitely considering a major move, tohaving job security, and a happy home and work environment. I probably won't have the same job, but I'd like one similiar to the one I'm at rightnow only full-time instead of a part-time temp-to-hire position. I am going to demand a pay increasein order to support myself, a person cannot support themself on $11.00 per hour for only 2.5 hours a day. Any normal person would have to have at least $12.50 an hour, preferably more per hour to live comfortably. Just make sure your employer realizes that as time goes on you may have health issues that may arise as you get older. My previous employer was not sympathetic to that fact and as I approached menopause I became continuously tired only to learn that I was extremely anemic and Iwas lucky to have been able to get out of bed atall! Because of this I was denied full-time em-ployment twice, merely because I was late coming in to work by only a matter of minutes each time. Had I known how anemic I was I would've asked for a medical excuse from my physician. But,it was only a couple of days prior to my hysterectomy that we learned of my anemia, after those full-time positions had already been given to two of my co-workers they didn't feel it was appropriate to go back and take those positions away from them, but, they most certainly didn't promise me the next full-time position that became available either. A couple of years had passed and we ac-quired a different supervisor and I had to start all over. To work within the department I was working in meant working in an environment of unequality, whatever the senior employees decided were the rules within that department was usually verified by the supervisor and there was no changing her mind, no matter how unfair the rules were! Too bad no one had the guts to report themto the Labor Review Board for the State of Wisconsin.
Back to Basics
I found the most valuable traits to exhibit when working for a new employer are: being on time for work, dress and groom appropriately, being courteous and pleasant, good grammar, and a sense of humor.
Big Bucks
I have been at my company for 9 years in many capacities and job titles. I have to say that I am impressed with myself for such accomplishments. I have been promoted almost every year that I have been here. I started as a PT Research clerk , and I am currently a Program Coordinator for an outpatient Program. I love that I have flexibility, but would still like to pursue my BA when time permits. I think what I like most about this compan is the opportunity to grow. I am well liked and known in the agency as well as very depended on. It's always call Rama she can help you. I like that feeling, it is a source of high confidence in me.
National Freight Rip Off
I am trying to get a review from my employer, they have a man who's first question to me was what do you do here? This is the man who is giving me my review on my work performance and who doesn't know what my job is? How can this be fair, I have also found that no woman has been promoted here, I have applied and got turned down all men have been promoted, men who do not have the experience or the senoirity and I am still waiting for an answer, 3 months and 2 days late
What the workforce needs more of.
The best benefit is medical insurance. Why? I am a diabetic. On my previous job I had no medical insurance and spent more time off because of lack of meds. I have med insurance now, which is wonderful. There is no "worst benefit." A benefit is always better than what you had. The pros of working where I am are the benefits, work schedule, bonus and communite. The cons could only be the excessive work load because of lack of finances to hire more employees. Thus, I produce the workload of 3 people.
"Righsizing" employees to balance the budget is brutal and backhanded.
Never think that there is job security. After 14 years of excellent service to the vice president of a community college, I was "laterally transferred" to an entry level job. Remember that administrators are playing their own game of chess and they must keep their soldiers close. I was in the way of getting her girlfried into my job, so I was moved to a job that will probably be terminated due to lack of work. Remember: life is not logical or fair!
