A food safety coordinator job is responsible for ensuring that the company they are working for are following health and safety guidelines relevant to the food industry. The education requirement for a food safety coordinator is a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in safety, occupational health, or a related field. Aside from having that educational background, there is also the need for the coordinator to have 1-3 years of experience in food manufacturing, safety, and occupational health.
The typical day for a food safety coordinator will vary, depending on the company and industry that they are working for. They will generally be onsite, ensuring that the company is following the different health and safety guidelines. If there are multiple locations in the city, they might have to be out managing and keeping tabs on those locations as well.
Food Safety Coordinator Tasks
Aid supervisors and complete all forms relating to injury and illness prevention, accident investigation, corrective action, and departmental maintenance of the MSDS and chemical list.
Assist safety committee meetings, activities, and maintain meeting minutes.
Educate supervisors and managers on corporate safety programs.
Maintain safety training documentation including safety training, staff meetings, and safety audits.
Respond to consumer and customer complaints.
