Since artworks often vary in size, custom framing is often necessary. This may involve the use of power tools, so the framer should be able to operate these tools safely. Most of the work is done independently; therefore, the ability to adhere to time constraints and be self-motivated is important. Some positions may also require the framer to be able to organize the artworks once framed, so experience and aesthetic skills are helpful.
The job is usually done indoors, but it's often done in a noisy environment due to the use of various tools. The framer should be able to work well under these noisy conditions.
