Job Description for Hospital Unit Clerk

Hospital unit clerks are responsible for performing a variety of administrative, clerical, and clinical activities in their hospital's unit. These individuals are in charge of ensuring their assigned area of the hospital is clean, answering phone systems and processing calls as required, transcribing medical instructions, and communicating with patients. Hospital unit clerks also maintain unit supplies and order new ones when needed, as well as route medical orders to appropriate staff.
