Housekeeping Manager Advice

Q: What do you wish you knew about your job when you first started out?

Housekeeping Manager in Bryson City:
"Staying Professional."
I have learned that it is a must in any managerial position that you must remain professional at all times with all employees. It is easy to form friendships with employees with whom you work closely on a daily basis, but you have to prevent close friendships with them to prevent future conflicts. Some will expect special treatment due to that friendship, but that behavior cannot be favored, expected, not tolerated by either party. Management can be a tough position to be in for this reason, and sometimes a lonely place to be. Everyone needs to realize where they land on the heiracy of the business structure and strive to ensure professional relationships across all levels and departments. Thus, keeping your personal relationships personal, and your professional relationships strictly professional.
