Human Resources (HR) Administrator - (City withheld for privacy), Florida, United States
I worked with my employer for 2.5 yrs and put in my notice. My past boss forced me into a role I did not want. She said it was a promotion and didn't understand why I wasn't happy. Anyway, I put my notice in expecting to have her tell me today is my last day. Her boss said he will keep me and use me in another department. I stuck out a lot of change for 3-4 months and expected to still be let go. A HR position became available at my company. I applied and was offered the job over another internal employee who has just graduated with their Masters in HR! When I received the offer I felt it was low, but I also felt my future boss knew that and wanted me to prove myself. I accepted and we agreed to an increase in 6 months. It has allowed me to stay grounded, learn, and keep a goal in mind. I hope my future boss will consider giving me a raise above what we discussed based on my performance. You have to give and take and the offer allowed me to keep at a fair standard of living, so as long as I perform well and my raises are fair every year, we are all happy.

Don't get friendly with your female boss.
Human Resources (HR) Administrator - (City withheld for privacy), Florida, United States
My female boss was the love of my life besides my family and children. we had a personal relationship out side of the office. I don't think she could handle my friend ship with the other's in the office and the influence i had on them. She is human resource Director, She fired me because she said I hit her gay assistant on the butt, which never did happen. We had words with each other prior to that (non job related) so she threw her power around and fire me on that excuse. the stress put me in the hospital, I never saw it coming and I was one of the deditcated workers. So don't get friendly with you boss at work or outside of work, and keep your mouth shut.
