Job Description for Internal Sales Engineer

There are many different businesses which employ salespersons. The more advanced or complex the item being sold, the more educated and knowledgeable the salesperson must be. An internal sales engineer is a salesperson who is an employee of a company (as opposed to a contract salesperson), and he or she is typically tasked with selling advanced mechanical or electrical equipment.


Internal Sales Engineer Tasks

  • Provide customer service in the form of installations and telephone support for remote users.
  • Act as point of contact for the sales team and customer base.
  • Assist and support the sales team through product sales, demos, account management, and escalation of account issues.
  • Manage current accounts, make repeat sales, and assist in product selection.
