The role of a kitchen & bath designer/salesperson is to create design solutions for kitchens and/or bathrooms for clients. They should be able to conceptualize the way to transform the client’s vision, develop a plan, provide quotations for costs, and work on purchase orders.Read More...
This job requires the individual to meet with clients to take a tour and check out the rooms that will need remodeling. From there, they speak with the client and determine what he/she wants to have done and the overall scope of the project. Then, they return to the office to make a conceptual design and determine the timeline, budget, materials needed, and necessary staff for the project.
An undergraduate degree such as Interior Design or a related field is generally required for this position. Some employers may also require the individual to have a Master’s degree, but this is far less common. Some states may mandate that the designer serve an apprenticeship under someone with experience in the field and take a licensing exam.
A kitchen & bath designer/salesperson will generally have regular work hours. They may occasionally have to meet with a client at an inconvenient time, which may be outside of regular hours. Work is both in and out of the office, as the individual will have to go off-site to meet with clients and determine what is needed for a given project, but also stay in the office to determine projections and other vital information.
