Theater light board operators handle theatrical lighting design for their company's productions. They are responsible for maintaining lighting equipment, as well as working collaboratively with theater professionals such as the stage manager and lighting designer to ensure each production runs smoothly. Theater light board operators make sure all equipment is ready and operational before productions. During productions, these operators must use their headset to communicate with the stage directors and make prompt lighting adjustments as necessary. If any lighting elements require repair, the operator needs to communicate this as soon as possible to the theater supervisor or other appropriate point of contact so repairs occur in a timely manner.
