Job Description for Maintenance Coordinator
The maintenance coordinator typically oversees maintenance tasks inside a factory, plant, store, or other facility. They supervises a group of personnel, usually called the maintenance team, to delegate tasks and ensure the team completes high quality work and remains productive. Maintenance coordinators make sure that all health and safety procedures are followed to ensure a safe working environment. They are the first responder to daily emergencies, tend to equipment that needs repair through coordinating a rapid response team, and ensure equipment receives preventative care as needed. The maintenance coordinator also handle any documentation related to work tasks performed by themselves or their staff. An associate’s degree or technical certification is often required for this position. Previous relevant experience is usually required, with at least two years in a managerial or supervising position a standard requirement. A maintenance coordinator must have the ability to use basic computer software to communicate, plan, and delegate tasks to the maintenance team and communicate with supervisors. Maintenance coordinators must be task-oriented, able to handle multiple priorities, and able to competently handle emergency situation. They must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well.
