Job Description for Mammography Technologist

Mammography technologists are responsible for performing mammography exams, using a sophisticated X-ray of the breast for the purpose of diagnosis and treatment of diseases such as breast cancer. The technologist's daily duties consist of operating the X-ray equipment and performing a variety of mammography-related diagnostic procedures. They work in a doctor's office, hospital, or other medical setting and are required to be proficient in mammography positioning and exposure techniques.

  • Review and evaluate developed mammograms or other digital breast images for clarity.
  • Use radiation safety measures and protection devices to comply with government regulations and to ensure safety of patients and staff.
