Managers of corporate marketing should conduct research in order to develop new and successful marketing strategies and gain knowledge of the company’s current standing in the public eye. It is important to keep up with new developments in the field to stay ahead of the competition; with this knowledge, new marketing campaigns and modifications can be made which will grasp the public’s attention in a positive manner. They may also oversee and contribute to production, such as billboards, magazine advertisements, and web presence, among other things. There are often multiple projects going on at one time, so it is important to be able to multitask and work well under pressure.
Some jobs require corporate marketing managers to have creative expertise, such as in graphic design, in order to better lead a marketing team, and some travel may be required to meet with third-parties. Because this is an advanced position, many years of managerial experience may be required by some employers, and a bachelor’s degree or higher in marketing or a related field may also be required.
