The mechanical inspector is tasked with gathering evidence on the quality of operations and then creating reports that will have to be presented to upper management. Suggestions as to what can be improved regarding company operations and quality of goods will also have to be made by the inspector. The inspector should make sure that all operations being monitored and that they are adhering to company policies. Another important task is to make sure that they are also compliant to laws and regulations that apply to the company. The mechanical inspector should continuously develop a plan for executing quality control tests and modify them as necessary. The inspector should also note what can be improved and what sort of training should be administered in order to correct gaps in quality.
Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office, Adobe, and other software programs are usually needed. The ability to read and interpret blue prints and manuals is also essential. Generally, a minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required, along with many years of experience in the field.
