Medicaid medical billing specialists work primarily for doctors’ offices, hospitals, and medical clinics and are responsible for Medicaid medical insurance billing and follow-ups. Candidates for this position must be familiar with ICD-10 codes (diagnosis codes) and CPT codes (billing codes), and many employers also require thorough knowledge of Medicaid regulations, proficiency in accounts receivable systems and applications such as Med-Assist and Paragon, and competency in Microsoft Office programs.Read More...
While some employers train new Medicaid medical billing specialists to use the company's computer system, candidates are expected to have basic computer skills and understanding of accounts receivable applications, as these specialists must be able to assist patients with health care insurance questions and concerns both in-person and over the phone.
