The position encompasses many duties, but in large the medical equipment coordinator will be tasked with the responsibility of managing the use of medical equipment. The candidate must be a good communicator, as the position requires a lot of interacting with customers, insurers, employees, and providers. This person must have the ability to work with a team and independently, good organizational skills, and the ability to use Microsoft Excel and other data entry systems. This person must be able to multitask and prioritize work and be able to handle a high-stress and high-demand work environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
The medical equipment coordinator is responsible for keeping up with the maintenance of the medical equipment being used inside the facility. The medical equipment coordinator will assess the necessity of all requests for medical equipment by patients and either confirm or deny them, ensure that all the equipment deliveries are made successfully, serve as a liaison between the facility, patients and providers to foster a healthy business relationship, and review how medical equipment is used and the process of distributing it in order to make improvements.
This person must be knowledgeable of all medical equipment and provide necessary staff and patient training on use. This person will respond to customer issues and work through any claims. The applicant must have a clean background and be able to pass FBI check and may be required to pass a drug screening as well. This person must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license and a high school diploma or its equivalent required. A familiarity with medical terminology is preferred but not required.
