Job Description for Network/Data Communications Manager

Network/data communications managers are generally responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining data transmission networks which support data processing systems. They also supervise the staff responsible for installing, monitoring, and troubleshooting data center equipment and software and are responsible for reporting to management regarding escalated events, coordinating daily department activities, ensuring adequate network capacity to meet unexpected demands, and hiring, training, and coaching non-management department employees.

  • Manage data center operations staff, which installs, maintains, monitors, analyzes, and troubleshoots data center equipment and software.
  • Report to management the status of all events per the escalation procedures.
  • Hire, review, and fire non-management employees.

  • Implement upgrade schedules to ensure facilities have required capacity and to react to unforseen demand.
