An occupational health or safety specialist technician is responsible for gathering and analyzing data regarding safety and health conditions in the workplace. They work with health and safety specialists in conducting tests and evaluating hazards to help workers avoid injury in the workplace and also to avoid damage to property, the environment, and the public at large. The occupational health or safety specialist technician spends their time looking for a variety of biological, radiological, chemical, or physical hazards. They can expect to work in a variety of environments, ranging from offices to factories to outside work locations such as lumberyards and logging operations.
