I was too good
Dispensing Optician - (City withheld for privacy), California, United States
I was fired from a job with a local Dr. after only 4 days because I was "too organized" and had "attention to Quality". He said that he didn't think I would work out with the other Optician (she was on vacation) because she was unorganized and he felt she would be threatened by me. She worked for him for 10 years. He gave me a check for $1001 dollars for the 4 days that I had worked. I had cleaned the office and organized everything and worked myself right out of a job.

Always has been difficult to broch this subject.
Dispensing Optician - (City withheld for privacy), Vermont, United States
I have to say that the interview is a good place to start discussing pay scale. You need to know what is being offered and they need to know what you believe you are worth to their business. I have always been told to start high and sell yourself. I feel that I usually undersell myself and that is hard to judge. Look into what the pay scale is in that area and use that as a guideline. Otherwise you are going in blind.

Raise time???
Dispensing Optician - (City withheld for privacy), California, United States
We all feel like we dont make enough, but sometimes we really dont. If you feel like its time for a raise... ask for alone time with your boss, sit them down and tell them your intentions. Be firm and positive in your approach, not whiny. Be realistic and pray hard. =)
