Order processors/sales coordinators are in charge of coordinating sales processes and processing orders on behalf of their company. They are responsible for gathering order information and submitting order to be processed in a timely manner, as well as reviewing and processing orders from sales representatives. They verify inventory and submit requests for payment authorization before shipping. In addition, they enter sales orders received from different systems. Other tasks performed by order processors include participating in sales meetings to suggest changes to sales and processing steps based on their observations and experience, as well as responding to e-mail inquiries and telephone communications.
Order processors use a personal computer as one of their main tools to check order information, existing inventory, and client data. They communicate with other departments to handle logistics issues and work on special projects using their data entry skills as required. Generally, order processors report their progress to the sales and processing supervisor in their organization. These professionals must follow all privacy procedures to protect client information.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position. Previous experience in a processing or sales capacity is generally required or preferred. Order processors must be organized individuals that pay close attention to detail. They also must have excellent communication skills and be proficient with basic computer programs.
