Job Description for Petroleum Landman

Most of the time, petroleum landmen (or petroleum land workers) work for gas and oil exploration companies. They acquire subsurface mineral rights from owners on behalf of their company. They must make sure that their company legally owns the rights to the minerals that are found on the ground during exploration. They are involved in negotiating business agreements related to mineral rights with landowners.
