Job Description for Pharmacy Technician, Lead

The lead pharmacy technician generally works under a pharmacist, assisting them in the pharmacy by completing tasks such as mixing medicines and creating IV solutions. The lead pharmacy technician holds a leadership position in which they must provide guidance and instructions to other pharmacy technicians. These professionals are also in charge of cleaning the pharmacy, performing bookkeeping duties such as creating bills and medicine labels, and using a computer to complete work-related tasks. There may also be logistical duties involving keeping inventory and restocking. Whenever discrepancies are noted, the pharmacy technician must notify the pharmacist immediately. Additionally, the pharmacy technician may have telephone answering and reception duties, and they must be courteous and concise when giving or taking information from clients.
