They typically direct and oversee the project team's blood-collection functions, and also interview and choose members of their team and ensure that all quality standards are met. During blood drives, phlebotomy supervisors ensure that all safety standards are met and the drive is being conducted safely and humanely. Customer service skills are beneficial for interacting directly with donors, and some may also be responsible for driving a blood donor mobile. A high school diploma, valid driver's license, and prior supervisory experience are necessary for this position, and phlebotomy supervisors may work varied schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays. They should also be knowledgeable of computer applications, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel, to log the results of each blood donation drive.
Strong communication skills are important in this position to direct teams and provide clear instructions to both employees and clients. Implementation managers work in a range of locations, both indoors and outdoors, and should be able to stand on their feet for extended periods of time. A bachelor's degree, at least one year of phlebotomy experience, and at least 3 years of supervisory experience are generally required for this position.
