Get that raise!
Physical Therapist (PT) - (City withheld for privacy), Indiana, United States
I finally found out why men make more money than women, they ask, it is that simple. I noticed a male colleague talking to our supervisor every single time he did anything for our department. It didn't matter how small the project or even if someone else might have done most if not all of the work. So when he asked for a raise, he got it.

I began doing the same thing and encouraged the other women in the department to do the same but they would not. I now make more money (~$10,000.00) than anyone in my dept., even those who have been there longer. Employers want to know "what have you done for us lately", not 1-20 years ago.

My best advice: report your success (even keep a journal and type it out) and then run, don't walk to ask for that raise. It works!
