Job Description for Physician/ Doctor, Pediatric Neurologist

Some neurological disorders are quite common in children, such as attention-deficit disorder and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder. While these behavioral disorders do not pose serious risks to a child’s well-being, pediatric neurologists are responsible for recognizing unique symptoms and properly treating these disorders. More serious disorders include epilepsy, cerebral palsy, and other disorders associated with developmental delays.
Pediatric neurologists are trained to understand functions in many different areas of a child’s body and are often called upon to examine issues related to blood vessels, muscles, and nerve coverings. However, their main focus areas are the three nervous systems: autonomous, central, and peripheral, as disorders of these systems present the greatest neurological risks for children. These neurologists must be prepared to diagnose, treat, and hopefully resolve these issues that are affecting their patients, all while remembering that the patient is just a child who may not fully understand what is going on. As such, this position requires finesse and skill for people in addition to medicine.
