Plant controllers are responsible for administrative work in a factory environment, such as preparing financial statements, production-cost statements, and profit forecasts. Time-management skills and the ability to manage others are important in this position, and they may also be responsible for a financial staff team and duties such as payroll, scheduling, and recruitment. It's important that they keep up with the newest trends and technologies, and computer skills are important in order to manage data and find efficient ways to store it digitally. Plant controllers may also have purchasing duties and should be able to negotiate, work well with vendors, discuss expenses with management, and help decide how costs can be decreased. This is usually a full-time job that is carried out during daytime hours, and a bachelor's degree in finance or business administration is generally required.
